Wow i have never experienced something so terrible in all my time. Went to the dentist early June due to having a toothache. Seen by alex and was told i needed a filling in my lower wisdom tooth which i agreed to have done on the day. While he was drilling my tooth i kept telling him to stop as i was in severe pain, he told me its not pain and it's the vibration so he gave me another injection and carried on while i screamed again i told him its definitely pain, however this was ignored. Pressed the filling in my mouth and i screamed again. I was asked if it hurt which i replied yes otherwise i wouldn't be saying it. Once i got out the door i was in so much pain dur to the pressure put on my tooth with the filling i felt sick, Ignored it however as i thought it was a one of but I was in agony for the next few days. Booked an emergency appointment five days later only to ring up everyday for 4 days and be told there isn't any emergency appointments.Went to a different dentist and paid for the consultation, done an x-ray (which was not done by Alex initially in genix) and was told i had severe decay and an infection. Was told tooth had to be removed and prescribed antibiotics. Went back to genix the next day and told this to alex, however he ignored this and assured me it was just an infection prescribed me antibiotics. After 2 weeks i was still in agony, rang up on several different occasions only to be told they are fully booked each day and to try again tomorrow. My father finally went down and had stern words with the lady at the reception. I was finally referred to see a specialist and was told to wait for a letter to come within the next 1-2 days. 4 days gone and no letter so i called them, only to be told they haven't reffered me because they need my nhs number. They had both my landline and mobile contact number on file why would they not have rang me to get this information? If i never rang I'd still be waiting to be reffered now. Finally after over a month of severe pain have an appointment to get my tooth taken out from a surgeon.I am absolutely appaled by the lack of care given by the staff here to paying patients. If alex had performed an x-ray on my consultation in the first place which again i paid for and is supposed to be included in the service the outcome would have been different, more than likely I would have gotten reffered at the time and would not have had to suffer this pain.I have been in so much pain i have been unable to speak, eat properly and go to work. I will be seeking advice from my solicitor for medical negligence
Just wanted to say how great this place is. Had to have scaling performed due to years of not getting regular cleanings and also smoking. I was really nervous about the procedure. But, Vanessa Wood was great! She was professional but also really kind and gentle, which made the experience much better. Would definitely recommend her- especially if you have a bit of dentist fear like I do.
I don't know where to start. First of all, when booking an appointment you expect to be seem within 5 minutes of your appointment time.. I had to wait at least 20 minutes after my appointment time for a molar extraction. I was attended by Alex who at first seemed to be nice. I sat down for the first look, he examined my mouth and it was apparent why I was there. Then I also asked, seeing as I was at the dentist to have my other teeth examined, you know, for good measure and to see if there is any advice to be given and any xrays needed to only have Alex rudely interrupt me saying, can we just take this tooth out today? From my knowledge, it being a band 2 treatment it also meant any band 1 treatment such as xrays and examination of the teeth came under what I went in for. This was neglected and we went ahead with the extraction of my tooth. Alex did not bother asking any information about my tooth, any history of dental care nor if I'd been to the service before which I would expect is the procedure.Alex went on to start removing my tooth, which granted was in pretty bad shape, thus cracking and being told it needs to come out in pieces. Seeing as I've never experienced such thing, I did not know the sensation and as soon as I felt a lot of pressure pushed down on my tooth and other teeth in fact I flinched like a normal patient would. Alex then asked if I would rather be referred to be sedated to which I did not know how to respond. After the tooth was extracted, I was merely given a sheet of paper and asked to sign te receipt document for my treatment's payment and bid goodbye. There were no additional gauzes providedin case of more bleeding upon removal of the initial gauze given. As a patient, I believe a dentist has an obligation to verbally advise their patients of what to do next, examine the patient regardless of what they are booked in for, in case there are any other treatments needed and also any advice for the future.I must say all the staff were nice but the one that mattered doing the treatment acted like his patient was a nuisance to his day.Now I am sitting in my living room wondering if my tooth has been taken out fully as there is a very hard bump on the side of my gums where the extracted molar once was. In addition to the bump, there is also a lot of grey and beige substance where there is supposed to be a blood clot formed. Also pretty sure that the two teeth next to the one extracted have dramatically moved inwards to the middle of my mouth as I feel them touching my tongue unlike before when speaking. All of the above being said, I will not be going to Genix for any dental treatments again and this is why people are scared to go to the dentist. Very poor service.
I attended recently for my dental check up (after a courtesy phone call to remind me- very helpful!) All staff were very polite and attentive and I was seen to very promptly. I seen a different dentist today and he was very professional and comforting. The nurses are all very busy but always go the extra mile to make sure your happy.I would definitely recommend this practice to all my friends and family! (I do not have a gmail account so this is from my granddaughter's account)
I have been a patient at this practice since I was 3 years old and I would not trust any other dentist. Mr Magson has been my dentist for most of the time and has been fantastic. He and the receptionists have always fitted me in as I work fulltime. Mr Magson even fitted me in for an emergency appointment on News Year Eve. My mother and father who are in their 80s still attend as have my 2 sons and husband. I have been very impressed with the service I have received over the past 43 years! I would not hesitate in recommending this dentist practice. Well done to everyone!
